A Historic Example of Human Sensitivity from Indore - Bacchi Ko Bacche Bachayenge
February 2026 | Indore City
Indore is known not only for cleanliness or development, but also for its compassion and social unity. When it came to light that little Anika Sharma, who is battling the serious and rare disease SMA Type-2, required crores of rupees for treatment, it was no longer just a family's struggle — it became the responsibility of the entire city.
Transforming this emotion into a public movement was the courageous initiative of Ek Kadam Madad Ki Ore Seva Samiti.
Under the leadership of the organization’s president Rishabh Bagora, the campaign became an example not only of fundraising but also of compassion, organization, and transparency. What made this campaign truly special was that children themselves stepped forward to save the life of another child.
From an Idea to a People’s Movement
The foundation of the campaign was laid during a special meeting of presidents of various social organizations in Indore, along with educators and prominent influencers.
- An emotional appeal was prepared through social media.
- A model of “Har Vidyarthi ₹100” was decided, keeping students at the center of the campaign.
- Organized team structures were formed across schools and colleges.
- A transparent banking system and clear processes were established.
After this, an official press conference was held where the full outline of the campaign was made public. From that point onward, “Bacchi Ko Bacche Bachayenge” became not just a campaign but a citywide movement.
Leadership of Indore’s Honorable Mayor
The campaign received moral strength and public trust through the support of Indore’s respected Mayor, Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, who is also the patron of the organization. His inspiration and active participation helped the campaign expand across the entire city.
The organization also connected the Sahodaya Group to the campaign. Under the leadership of Chairperson Mohit Yadav, coordination was established across various educational institutions.
Donation Collection Process & Complete Transparency
3 February: After a special appeal, thousands of students voluntarily contributed.
4–5 February: Donation boxes were opened at Nehru Stadium in the presence of administration officials and committee representatives.
- The amount was counted with complete transparency.
- The entire fund was deposited directly into a joint bank account associated with AIIMS.
- The joint account is linked to Anika Sharma’s name, and funds from this account can only be used for her treatment.
Historic Achievement
₹28 lakh collected in just one day.
Total funds collected by 11 February 2026: ₹5,13,52,000
